Beta 80 International and Avaya joined forces at NENA Conference & Expo 2017, one of the largest events for public safety professionals in North America that took place June 03-08 in San Antonio, Texas. We are proud to announce that Beta 80 has integrated Waze traffic information into its CAD. This integration will provide PSAPs with even better real-time traffic information; including road works, alerts, jams and incidents. Agencies may now directly alert citizens of incidents and problem areas on the road. Furthermore, Beta 80 has joined the Waze Connected Citizen Program (CCP) a network of Waze partners who have additional sources of data not found within the Waze app.
Four new PSAPs in three months
Milan, Italy – May 30th, 2017. In just ninety days, from February to April 2017, Beta 80 Group has launched four new PSAPs, including one covering the entire territory of the Republic of Albania. This is the result of Beta 80 Group’s twenty-five-year experience, as well as a constant technological evolution with iO® CAD at the very center. iO® is our in-house developed Computer Aided Dispatch software suite that can adapt to the needs of each territory and operational module.

The California Chapter of the National Emergency Number Association (CALNENA) supports the proliferation of technology that has enhanced the public’s access to emergency services.

New Europe published today a front-page article on the European Commission’s Directorate-General for Communication (DG COMM) and how it blocked awareness activities for the common European emergency number 112. More specifically, officials coming from DG COMM prevented European Commission representations in Member States from communicating on 112, although the planned awareness activities required no financial resources.
Europeans overwhelmingly support 112, with the recent 112 Day 2016 (11 February) being the perfect example. We believe that awareness of 112 is a right of Europeans, often meaning the difference between life and death.
EENA remains available to work with the European Commission, and any other stakeholder, to promote 112 among people everywhere in Europe.

On European 112 Day (11 February), Airbnb, the world’s leading community driven hospitality platform, updated their safety card to include 112 as the pan European emergency number. The initiative will help to inform hosts and guests around the world of the number to call in an emergency whilst travelling in Europe.
The Tavolo™ and iO-CAD™ were showed during the NYC 911 Technology Day at the Avaya’s Executive Briefing Center in New York City on Tuesday, October 27th. Emergency services representatives from NYC area attended to two interesting sessions regarding the latest technologies and innovations in Public Safety Communications.

The Regional Emergency Service Company (AREU) with its App “Where are U” was awarded as a finalist at the Smart Communities Award – Smart Communities and Social Innovation as an engine for Regional Development. The ceremony was held in Milan on October 22nd during the SMAU International 2015, the most important Italian event dedicated to Information & Communication Technologies designed to help main national and international suppliers of ICT to meet entrepreneurs, corporate and public administration decision makers and ICT operators. During the SMAU, 12 projects out of 43 were awarded as the best Smart Development projects.

It will be an expert of Beta 80 Group to preside over the EENA (European Emergency Number Association) Committee of Operations. Luca Bergonzi, a member of the Emergency Management Systems’ division in Beta 80 Group, is the new “Co-Chair of the Operations Committee” of EENA. The one year assignment strengthens the role of Beta 80 Group within the European Association that was born to ensure the spread and development of the Unique Emergency Number 112 service in all member States of the EU.

During last week, a group of Beta 80 professionals toured 9-1-1 PSAPs in Silicon Valley and the San Francisco Bay Area.

Since yesterday, iO has its first operating PSAP in Brazil. The chosen city was Limeira, in the state of São Paulo, and its PSAP controls over 350.000 people, working under the common number 192. The PSAP is part of SAMU (Sistema de Atendimento Móvel de Urgência / Mobile Emergency Attendance Service), the Brazilian ambulance emergency service that is present in the majority of Brazilian cities.
