USA: Beta 80 International at CALNENA in San Diego
Washington D.C., 04th of March 2016
From February 29 till March 3, Beta 80 International took part in the CALNENA 9-1-1 Mission Critical Training, held at the Hyatt Regency Mission Bay in San Diego. The California Chapter of the National Emergency Number Association (CALNENA) supports the proliferation of technology that has enhanced the public’s access to emergency services.
New Europe published today a front-page article on the European Commission’s Directorate-General for Communication (DG COMM) and how it blocked awareness activities for the common European emergency number 112. More specifically, officials coming from DG COMM prevented European Commission representations in Member States from communicating on 112, although the planned awareness activities required no financial resources.
Europeans overwhelmingly support 112, with the recent 112 Day 2016 (11 February) being the perfect example. We believe that awareness of 112 is a right of Europeans, often meaning the difference between life and death.
EENA remains available to work with the European Commission, and any other stakeholder, to promote 112 among people everywhere in Europe.
